Ellenbrook United FC are excited to announce a new coaching team to the Amateurs setup, and welcome Brad Hassell as the new Head Coach of our First Team.

The current FFA A-Licenced coach has held previous coaching positions with Football Federation Australia, Perth Glory and Football West. Locally Brad has been involved with EUFC as both a Masters player and Junior coach, and is now looking forward to the challenge of coaching the senior team.

“Having been around the club for a number of years, I feel that now is the right time to take on this challenge” says Hassell. “I call it a challenge in that the Amateur team has been dropping down the leagues and in turn this has led to many talented local players leaving the club. I feel that if we can get the environment right, and create a place where players want to stay and play for their local club, we can start to move the team in the right direction.”

The coach’s playing record speaks for itself – 2-time Grand Final winner with Perth Glory in the hay days of the NSL, after a successful career in his home state with Adelaide City. He later played locally for Sorrento before heading into coaching.

“We will shortly be holding open training sessions for our Amateur First Team and I would encourage all local players, past and present to attend. I feel that Ellenbrook has plenty of good players that live locally and I want to tap into that, as well as keeping an eye on the talented NPL youngsters who will potentially feed into our senior teams.” says the newly appointed coach.

Assisting Brad will be Jon Robin, an experienced C-Licensed coach that has been at the Club since its inception in 2008. He has coached various teams from Under 6s all the way through to Masters. Jon is looking forward to helping achieve Brad’s vision and inject some positivity into the Amateurs - “We all know the recent history of the club’s fall from State League to our current position; we are coming in with fresh eyes and ideas, and want to bring an exciting style of play that will take the club upwards.”

Jon, a veteran of 14 seasons and over 200 appearances for the Brook, understands the challenges of moving the Club forward - “My passion for the club is well recognised, hopefully that will transfer onto the players who want to stay and fight for the shirt and for the Club. We (the first team) have a duty to give 100% on and off the pitch, to give our young players something to aspire to. This is an opportunity for everyone involved in the first team to have a fresh start, work together to push each other towards bigger and better things.”
